    シニアの集い「わ」の会

    シニア同士、またボランティアと、楽しく日本語でおしゃべりする会です。現在、10名前後で集まっています。

    シニアのための歌の会

    シニアを中心に、懐かしい歌（唱歌、昭和の歌謡曲、世界の民謡等）を日本語で楽しく歌う会です。

    歌が得意でなくても、楽譜が読めなくても大丈夫です。現在、10名前後で集まっています。

    シニアZoomフィットネス

    シニアの方が無理なく楽しめるフィットネスクラスをZoomで開催しています。

    地域で活動中のインストラクターの皆さんが週替わりで担当し、多彩なプログラムに参加いただけます。

    〜ニューイングランド地域にお住まいの子育て世代の皆さまへ〜　

    花が咲き、外出しやすい季節になりました。皆さまいかがお過ごしでしょうか。このたび、JBLineでは　

    **６月１３日（土）に対面の「子育て広場」**　

    を開催いたします。ボランティアスタッフや参加された方同士でお茶などを飲みながら自由にお話をするスペースを提供します。
    そして、今回はスペシャル企画として、日本の独特の文化である紙芝居を、日本とバーモント州から紙芝居師さんが会場に来てお話を読んでくださいます。
    どの年代の親子さんも気軽に参加いただけます。参加費は無料、開催時間内は出入り自由です。ぜひ、ご家族皆さんでお越しください。

    **In-Person “Japanese Parents Community” on Saturday, June 13**

    We will be hosting this event. We will provide a space where you can freely chat with volunteer staff and other participants while enjoying tea and refreshments.
    As a special feature this time, we have invited kamishibai storytellers from Japan and Vermont to read stories using kamishibai, a unique Japanese cultural tradition.
    Parents and children of all ages are welcome to join us. Admission is free, and you are free to come and go as you please during the event. We hope to see the whole family there.

    【紙芝居師さんの紹介】[Kamishibai performers]
    Tara M. McGowan—East Burke, VT
    Tara McGowan, Ph.D., is a Japan scholar, educator, and visual artist, who creates and performs her own original kamishibai stories. She has published two books on the subject: The Kamishibai Classroom: Engaging Multiple Literacies through the Art of ‘Paper Theater’ (2010) and Performing Kamishibai: An Emerging New Literacy for a Global Audience (2015).
    McGowan has been invited to conduct kamishibai workshops and seminars in Mexico, Peru, France, Slovenia, and Japan and was awarded the Horio Seishi Award in 2017 from the Center for Research on Japanese Children’s Culture (子供の文化研究所) in Tokyo for her International contributions to kamishibai storytelling and research. In 2025, she conducted a master-class workshop for kamishibai performers in Slovenia and received the Blue Dolphin Award on behalf of the World Kamishibai Forum.

    Otsuka Tamayo—Osaka, Japan
    Otsuka Tamayo (a. k. a. Tamachan) is a licensed kamishibai street-performance artist. She obtained her Osaka Prefectural Kamishibai Operator’s License in 1981 and became a member of the Sanyu-kai, representing Japan’s last street-performance kamishibai illustrator Genichiro Shiozaki. She performs regularly in parks in and around Osaka, and, in 1989, received the Sukiyanen Grand Prize sponsored by the Osaka 21st Century Association. She has also performed at the Japan Festival in Los Angeles, at the University of California, in San Diego and Phoenix. In 1994, she opened the Shiozaki Otogi Kamishibai Museum and served as director until 2020.
    In 2020, Tamachan co-founded the Tezukuri "Hand-made" Kamishibaikan in Sumiyoshi Ward, where she shares classic street-performance kamishibai from the Shiozaki Children’s Kamishibai Museum. In 2022, she published her autobiography, “Tamachan’s kamishibai is about to begin.” In May of 2024, she curated the international exhibition “Welcome to the World’s Kamishibai Forest,” which was co-sponsored by the Naka-no-shima Prefectural Library.

    Mimoto Fumiyo—Osaka, Japan
    Mimoto Fumiyo (a.k.a Piiman-san) performs kamishibai for children at libraries, community centers and special events and also gives workshops in Yao City, Osaka on handmade kamishibai. She won the top prize at the prestigious Minoh City Handmade Kamishibai Competition (箕面手作り紙芝居コンクール) in 2000 and has published many kamishibai stories for the elderly, which she performs at elder caregiving seminars and facilities.
    Mimoto is a co-founder of the Tezukuri Kamishibai-Kan in Osaka, where she teaches children and adults how to create original kamishibai stories and shares classic street-performance kamishibai from the Shiozaki Children’s Kamishibai Museum.
